Welcome to ADecadentExistence.com, otherwise known as my semi-experimental blog. I am a twenty something guy who resides in the bay area and writes fortunes for fortune cookies. I have no idea where I’m going with this blog, so for the time being it will chronicle my raves, rants, random thoughts, and how I spend my time. It began as a easy way for my friends to keep up with me, but has turned into a source of entertainment for a much larger invisible audience (maybe you).
Like all twenty somethings I have my vices, currently those vices include but are not limited to: volkswagen auto group products, road cycling, digital photography, cuisine, wine, beer, modern and modular design, backpacking, sleep and all things kid robot. My motivation is sourced from white gummi bears and my energy from Sawa Sushi’s “magical fruits.” With that said, enjoy your stay and visit often.

Charities & Causes I support:

Lifestraw is an affordable and portable water filtration device that provides the impoverished in many countries the simple luxury of sanitary potable water. One Lifestraw costs under $2 and lasts a year.

Mine Awareness Trust, formerly No More Landmines is a British trust once highly publicized by Sir Paul McCartney - its sole mission is to find, and decommission left over landmines. Preventing unnecessary death, suffering, and handicaps. They also have a new program adopting military service dogs.

World Savvy is a local San Francisco based non-profit with global outreach. Their mission is to educate and prepare our youth in current environmental and global events and causes, as well as being one of the first groups on site to help toward the betterment of our natural environment. After all, we only have one Earth.

CHP 11-99 is a charity which solely benefits the families of fallen California Highway Patrol officers. Many times we often overlook the importance of effective law enforcement and only think of them as the entity issuing us speeding tickets. An often thankless job, this was a way to finally ‘give back.’

The California State Park Foundation has one simple mission, to keep California State Parks open to the public. Earlier in 2009, Gov. Schwarzenegger proposed closing 80% of California’s State Park system due in an effort to pay off the state deficit. Doing so would most likely result in not temporary closures, but permanent closures due to the astronomical cost of re-staffing, prepping and re-opening parks.

Loans that change lives. Easy as that. You could loan almost any amount out to ‘entrepreneurs’ in less then optimal surroundings, I’m talking about $25 to a woman in Kenya to open up a market to feed her 3 children. The idea is they pay you back slowly, sure it doesn’t always work…in fact I’ve yet to personally see it work but it sure adds some karma points when you need them!
